On the Support Effect and the Cr Promotion of Co Based Catalysts for the Acetic Acid Steam Reforming

This work focuses on the support effect of performances Co based catalysts for acetic acid steam reforming. SBA-15, a well ordered hexagonal mesoporous silica structure, and CeO2 have been selected as supports, with impact chromium addition also being investigated. Better reforming recorded compared to SBA-15 supported and, in particular, 7Co/CeO2 catalyst showed highest values conversions enhanced H2 yields below 480 °C, comparison other investigated catalytic formulations. In addition, more pronounced coke depositions acetone concentrations obtained catalysts, due tendency ceria catalyse ketonization reaction. Chromium Co/SBA-15 led an enhancement activity towards reforming, while no improvement catalysts’ was observed. However, both Cr reduced amount deposited surface.
